- 1977-11-17 'There\'s no doubt in my mind at all that the alarm saved our lives,' said Mike Rainey of 506 N. Mulberry, surveying damage from a 2:30 a.m. fire; the family, who have lived there more than four years, escaped through a bedroom window nearly choking from smoke; a heat-sensor detector close enough to the kitchen sounded its alarm; Rainey got his two children out a bedroom window and notified police and fire.
